Special Services Assistant Early Head Start

Department: Head Start
Location: Newport, RI

Due to the critical nature of this position to provide services to children, EBCAP is offering a two-step sign-on bonus totaling $1000 for external applicants.

East Bay Community Action Program (EBCAP) is seeking a full-time (40 hours per week), year-round (52 weeks) Special Services Assistant to join our team and provide a nurturing and safe classroom environment for children in the Head Start program in Newport. Support the functioning of the special services component to ensure the identification of students with special needs per the Head Start Performance Standards and with the overall mission, goals, and objectives of EBCAP. Ensure that all children identified with special needs have appropriate special education and related services to meet their unique needs. Ensure that the rights of children with disabilities and their parents are protected in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. Provide support and coaching to classroom teachers to make appropriate accommodations and implement classroom strategies to meet children's individual needs.

Minimum Required Education

Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in ECE or ECE special education. A bachelor’s degree is preferred, OR an AA or BA in a related field with experience with preschool children or other combination of education and experience is considered.
