Teacher Assistant part-time Pre-K

Department: Early Head Start
Location: Newport, RI

EBCAP is offering a two-step sign-on bonus totaling $1000 for external applicants.

This is a part-time (25-hour/week) position. Work in the afternoon (11:30 am-5:00 pm), year-round, (52 weeks) with a group of Pre-K children in after-school childcare. Qualifications:

  • HS diploma/GED and RI Department of Education Certificate of Completion of Teacher Assistant Training, OR
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) OR
  • Six college credit hours in ECE coursework OR
  • Ability to achieve a CDA OR six college credit hours in ECE coursework within 2 years from date of hire
  • Bachelors or Associate in ECE or a related field, OR
  • Other combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of child development, a desire to teach and nurture young children, and a desire to learn and develop new skills as an early education professional. College students looking for experience working with young children are encouraged to apply.

Under the direction and supervision of an Education Coordinator, the teacher assistant/float will work with a classroom team of professionals to provide a supportive classroom environment, assist in classroom activities and ensure that children are always supervised.
