Medicare Information Assistance & Awareness Coordinator (PT, T-Th)

Location: East Providence, RI

East Bay Community Action Program (EBCAP) is seeking a part-time MIAA Coordinator that will coordinate all day-to-day activities to execute the Medicare Information Assistance & Awareness (MIAA) program also called the State Health Insurance Program (SHIP), including scheduling and staffing of Open Enrollment Events. This position will work 20 hours per week, preferred days Tuesday - Thursday.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments of client's insurance needs.
  • Educate and counsel Medicare beneficiaries regarding all choices and options.
  • Provide clients with resources and referrals for additional support.
  • Maintain materials to assist in explaining changes to Medicare and available options.
  • Track client information and data entry/report in STARS, SIRS, and IQ in a timely manner.
  • Provide timely narrative and detailed reports to grant funding agencies and EBCAP Leadership as required.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with agencies, that assist elderly/disabled seniors.
  • Recruit, train, and support a network of MIAA and Senior Medical Patrol (SMP) volunteers.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • High School or equivalent required.
  • Annual Certification as a SHIP Counselor required.
  • Health Education Leader Certification required.
