Site Coordinator - Champion Childcare

Location: Newport, RI

East Bay Community Action Program (EBCAP) is hiring for a Site Coordinator in Newport, RI. As a member of the NFCOZ Student Supports Team, the Site Coordinator is responsible for implementing and maintaining the vision of the 21st Century Community Learning Center (CLC) initiative by coordinating programs and services at the Pell Elementary School and increasing access for students to high-quality, high-interest, and comprehensive academic and enrichment opportunities in the community during out-of-school time hours (OST).

Key Responsibilities:

Student Support

Developing the curriculum and thematic program for the before and after school licensed childcare program to support enrolled school age students to meet State and local student performance standards in core academic subjects such as reading and mathematics.

Planning a schedule which allows for daily academic and homework supports, thematic centers, and choice areas with open ended materials, daily outdoor recess, play and physical activity, literacy activities, and opportunities to participate in enrichment choices in coordination with CLC programs.

Supervising and supporting childcare staff to work with students, families and classroom teachers to provide necessary homework supports and encourage responsible decision-making and time management around school work responsibilities.

Reporting/Continuous Quality Improvement

Participating in the licensing and evaluation of Champion Childcare program in collaboration with NFCOZ Director, program evaluator, Bright Stars reviewer, and state quality advisor as applicable

Develop and implement a plan for quality improvement in collaboration with NFCOZ Director and engage the childcare team for implementation and progress monitoring.

Community Connections/Collaborations/Coordination

In collaboration with the NFCOZ Director, manage enrollment for new students, including developing enrollment forms, communicating with families and school personnel, gathering needed documents, maintaining database, and managing ratios.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in education or human services related field.
  • 3 years of community work experience with school age children and families in the areas of: social/emotional learning, behavior management, program development, educational practice, family engagement, and program recruitment.
  • Ability to clearly communicate with staff, parents, community representatives and volunteers.
  • Attend appropriate in-service and other training to enhance job performance.
  • Multi-task, maintain confidentiality, problem solve, and organize.
