Family Advocate LIHEAP/Safety Net

Location: East Providence, RI

East Bay Community Action Program is hiring a full-time Family Advocate LIHEAP/Safety Net. In this position you will research, assess, and apply the tenets and requirements of the LIHEAP program for all identified program clients. the Family Advocate LIHEAP/Safety Net responsibilities include activities related to community outreach, assessment, information, and referral according to the benchmark goals established in identified EBCAP initiatives. You will also have an exciting opportunity to assist in the promotion of the LIHEAP program throughout the organization to increase participation.


Primary Responsibilities (approximately 50% of your time)

  • Assess and apply the tenets and requirements of the LIHEAP program. Including, but not limited to intake, data entry, and client eligibility.
  • Research and secure EBCAP, state, and community services/resources and assist clients to enroll based on individual needs assessment.
  • Complete Family Development intake/assessment that links clients to services that will lead to the stabilization of their situation and help empower clients with problem-solving skills.
  • Submit productivity reports required by EBCAP for the LIHEAP program and other reports that may be required through LIHEAP database and Family Development databases.

Core Responsibilities (approximately 35% of your time)

  • Provide outreach and services at community sites as assigned.
  • Communicate and coordinate with other EBCAP programs, to promote and accept referrals for EBCAP consumers who have need for services.
  • Participate in coverage rotation for EBCAP Family Centers

Additional Responsibilities (approximately 15% of your time)

  • Participate in coverage rotation for EBCAP food panties as needed.
  • Attend trainings and conferences to keep abreast of isues that affect low-income families, as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor to ensure program and Family center is operating efficiently.

Qualifications:

  • High School/GED required.
  • Valid Driver's License, automobile insurance and reliable transportation required.
  • 2-3 years professional work experience preferred.
  • Desired experience working in other social service or community action agencies preferred.
  • Previous experience working with diverse populations preferred.
